The band have now finished the first period of recording. A
handful of songs are 80% finished, and sounding brilliant.
The atmosphere in the studio has been great, and everyone
is now looking forward to the summer break, and to starting
up again in September.

Nouvau Single et Nouvel Album pour Recoil
It seems to be a Recoil day. Recoil is coming up with a new enhanced
single, "Jezebel" including a new Recoil video and lots more. Shunt also
released the news that Alan Wilder is currently working on a new Recoil
project. In further news, it's official that Recoil music from the "Liquid"
LP will be featured in a new Australian film called "The Monkey Mask". Now,
back to the single, it will be released on August 7th, 2000 (this date is
still subject to change). No release date has been set yet for the US and
Canada.

"Jezebel" features vocals by The Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet and Diamanda
Galás with a remixed version by Slick Sixty and Roger Johnson. "Electro
Blues" originally appeared on the "Bloodline" LP and has been remixed by
Alan and PK. The CD artwork has been designed by Michael Williams at Intro
and the promo has been directed by Richard Bell for State Films .The highly
praised 14 minute version of "Black Box" was until now only available on
the EPK of "Liquid" and on a special promo release. Be sure to get hold of
this item as especially "Black Box" is bound to become a culthit. Watch out
for some more interesting news on Side-Line only...

Depeche Mode started recording their new album in London
on Monday 5th June. They will be working with Mark Bell
producing during this initial period, which will take them to
the middle of July. Everyone is very excited about working
together again, on the 8 or 9 new songs already written.

Gareth Jones continues work on new Depeche Mode album
In contradiction to what has been rumoured, Gareth Jones is continuing work
on the new Depeche Mode album. Gareth Jones spoke exclusively with
Side-Line and denied the rumour he would only join Depeche Mode for the
workshop sessions and be replaced for the actual album sessions. The
wellknown producer also said the band has by now finished 6 to 7 songs for
the upcoming album. In case you were off to Mars, Gareth Jones has been
working with Paul Freegard on new tracks in Martin Gore's home studio.
"Dave has been over from New York and done some excellent vocals on 4 tunes
already," Jones reported recently. Read the interview in Side-Line issue 32
